CPF and Clifton College co-organized the lecture “Excelling Children with STEM for top UK universities” at the British Council on Feb 13, 2018. Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology Dr David Chung EngD JP officiated the STEM lecture, followed by Dr Tim Greene DPhil, Clifton College Headmaster and Head of College and Dr Paulina Chan PhD, Chair of IEEE Women In Engineering HK. About 60 school governors, principals, teachers, parents and students attended the event.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is one of the most important focuses in today education to equip school students to meet the changes and challenges in our society and around the world with rapid economic, scientific and technological developments. HKSAR Government is actively promoting STEM to improve competitiveness of students of primary and secondary schools.
Distinguished Speakers have wealth of knowledge in STEM as well as experience with UK leading universities. They shared their insights on how STEM could help prepare Hong Kong children for the future development.
Dr. David CHUNG DEng JP is the Under Secretary of the Innovation and Technology, HKSAR Government with over 28 years of experience in information technology and entrepreneurship development.
Dr. Tim GREENE DPhil (Oxon) is Head of College, Clifton College, UK, one of the best Public Schools in UK. He had a range of academic appointments including a Senior Research Fellowship at Jesus College, Oxford before taking up teaching positions in UK University and schools.
Dr. Paulina CHAN PhD (Imperial) is Chair, IEEE-Women in Engineering HK. She is a seasoned expert in collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals translating technologies into commercial products and services in STEM. She advocates entrepreneurship and Women in Engineering.
